What is Baptism?
Baptism is an outward demonstration of an inner commitment to Jesus. We believe in baptism by full immersion, just as it was practiced in the bible. Immersion means ‘dip or submerge’ – it is the symbolic act of the cleansing of our sin and the start of new life.
Jesus told us we should be baptised, and led by his own example, being baptised by John in the river Jordan. In Matthew 28:19 Jesus tells his disciples to “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.”
How do I know if I am ready for baptism?
If you have accepted Jesus as your personal saviour, understand that you once fell short of God’s standards, but know that through the death of Jesus you are free and are able to openly declare “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and its power to save”, then Acts 22:16 says ‘Why delay? Get up and be baptised, and have your sins washed away, calling on the name of the Lord.’
Please fill in a Get Connected card online, or pick one up at church, and indicate that you’d like to get baptised.
