The Riverside Academy was established in 2007, and is now preparing for its sixth year. The purpose of the Academy is simple: it exists to develop young people personally, practically and spiritually, drawing them into a deeper, more mature relationship with God. Over the year, the team grow together and as individuals, learning to understand and develop their God-given gifts in serving and leading the church and the wider community.
Over the course of the Academy year, interns have the unique opportunity to experience the whole spectrum of the ministry here at Riverside, from worship to community outreach, from youth work to preaching, and from personal study to large-scale evangelism. They will have the chance to work with a range of talented and experienced individuals both at Riverside and in other churches, and will participate and share fully in the life of a thriving and growing church community. We also offer the opportunity to gain a NOCN level 3 qualification in youth work, a course run using the wide range of skills and expertise we have within our staff team.
We’re also able to explore partnerships with other churches, allowing individuals to access our training and qualifications, whilst spending the rest of the week working in their home church. Wherever they are, our interns develop skills, grow in confidence, and gain vital experience that will continue to serve them in whatever direction God takes them next. This is a chance for them to devote a year to serving the church and community, grow into the person they were designed to be, and most importantly, serve God.
